For the bands you pick to play, there are some great blues harmonica groups…Adam Gussow and also Ronnie Shellist…I know ronnie shellist will be in Florence KY 8/13. Hope he’ll come out to ribberfest if his schedule permits. But maybe you can check them out for future entertainment at ribberfest

    • Kathy Ayers says:

Thanks Allen — our Blues committee is always interested in checking out new talent (to us) for our event. Unfortunately the 13th is too close to our weekend for anyone to have time to leave town to check them out. But I will put these names on the committee’s radar and see where it goes.

  2. We had put in a bid to be considered for a spot on your festival each year for the past years. Was hoping this might be the year as we did represent the Kentuckiana Blues Society in Memphis this past January at the IBC and am proud to say we made it to the semi finals, meaning out of 250 bands we made it to the last 42 bands! There were great bands there from around the world! I had sent our two latest CDs to you and I haven’t heard anything and I’d been saving that date for you with my fingers crossed:) Just wondered if we were invited this year or if I need to apply again for next year. Thank you!

    • Kathy Ayers says:

      Hi Larry,
Thank you for your interest in Madison Ribberfest. We have a full slate for this year’s event. I always make sure the Blues Committee gets the CD’s sent to us. I will definitely put you on the list for them to check out when they are working on our 2016 line-up — August 19 and 20, in 2016.

just looked through the list of winners for 2015….pretty sure the list is not accurate. We (Whiskey Whiskers BBQ) won the Anything Butt Category, and you listed someone else.At least I know we brought home the trophy, and the check for $200.00. it was our first year at Madison, and we were really excited……was looking forward to seeing our name there.

  4. ben says:

Do the KCBS teams, provide their own meat or is it provided as part of the contest fee? I imagine that they bring their own and it gets inspected before the cook but I am not sure,

    • Kathy Ayers says:

Hi Ben — no you are exactly right. You bring your own — it gets inspected — and you begin cooking (well not right away — but you get what I mean). Good luck.
